From a traditional Chinese medicine perspective, acupuncture restores  the flow of Qi and harmonizes the body. Qi (Chee) is an energy that controls all vital organs and bodily functions. Therefore, if this energy is blocked or out of balance, problems within the body occur.

From a Western medicine view, inserting needles into the body sends a signal through the nervous system to the brain, where chemicals such as endorphins, norepinephrine, and enkephalin are released. Some of these substances are 10 to 200 times more potent than morphine and causes the body to have a parasympathetic response, which can help reduce overall inflammation, increase circulation, and enhance the body's function.
